Your Plexr Journey: What to Expect Before, During, and After
The idea of a new treatment can feel intimidating, so I always make sure my patients know exactly what to expect from start to finish. The Plexr plus experience is designed to be as comfortable and straightforward as possible, with your safety and comfort as the top priority.
- Before Your Treatment: It all starts with a conversation. We’ll discuss your goals and medical history to ensure you’re a great candidate. About 45 minutes before the procedure, we’ll apply a strong topical anesthetic cream to the treatment area to ensure minimal discomfort.
- During the Procedure: The treatment itself is relatively quick, usually lasting between 10 to 40 minutes depending on the area. You may feel a slight prickly or warm sensation, but it is generally very well tolerated.
- Immediately After: You will see the small, brown carbon crusts on the treated area. There might be some mild swelling or redness, which is a normal part of the healing process.
- The Healing Phase (Downtime): The downtime is anywhere from 3-10 days depending on the type of treatment and treatment intensity. Initially there can be swelling, however there is no bleeding or loss of skin layers. The larger part of the downtime is ‘social’ downtime due to the carbon crusts created. During healing, the carbon crusts will remain on the skin—it is crucial not to pick them! They will fall off on their own, revealing fresh, pink new skin underneath. Most importantly, you must be diligent about protecting the area from sun exposure. You’ll be guided on instructions for the entire healing phase to ensure safety and maximize results.
